LOCAL MISSION PROJECT: Quilts of Many Colors quilt
Some people in the church have expressed an interest in participating in a mission project for the Torrance area. In talking to Capt. Dave S. of the Torrance Police Department and Mr. Perez, head of Social Services, we were told that every month in Torrance approximately 25 children under age 17 are, for various reasons, taken by the police and turned over to Social Services. Many of these children are five years old or younger. Once, someone provided the police department with small quilts for these traumatized youngsters, but this resource is no longer available.

quilt_cutWould you like to make a quilt (we will teach you if you don't know how), or help in other ways to provide 10-12 quilts each month for the police department? Everyone is welcome. Sponsored by United Methodist Women. Contact the church office for details.

Torrance City Cable Channel 3, for This Week in Torrance, visited the Quilts of Many Colors at the church. Watch the video clip here (Needs QuickTime Player 21.7MB | 3:46).
